ABOUT THE AVON 39 WALK TO END BREAST CANCER
Are you looking to make a positive difference for others while challenging and inspiring yourself at the same time? If so, the Avon 39 Walk to End Breast Cancer is the event for you.
Breast cancer will take 40,000 lives in the U.S. this year. By walking and fundraising, you can contribute to research and programs that provide vital support to those in need.
Learn more about the Chicago walk:
- Two days and 39.3 inspirational miles
- A historic and scenic route through Chicago, including the Lake Michigan shoreline, the Magnificent Mile, Wrigley Field, Buckingham Fountain, Lincoln Park, Field Museum, and Navy Pier
- A Saturday night camp that includes tents, hot showers, meals, entertainment and leisure activities, and volunteer medical services
- 2016 beneficiaries included Northwestern University and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force, Sinai Health System, University of Wisconsin, Loretto Hospital, and John J. Stroger Jr. Hospital
- The 2016 Chicago walk raised $4.1 million to accelerate research, to improve access to screening, diagnosis, and treatment, and to further educate people about breast cancer
